Animals with rabies start suddenly roam around a village in the Šumava Mountains. A virologist from Prague, Pavel Rogl (Kryštof Hádek), is sent down to deal with them. What he finds there is his former lover (Johana Matoušková) as well as a deep hatred. A major crimes squad investigates a murder in the woods and brings Pavel in as a consultant. A connection between the homicide frenzy and the infection cannot be ruled out. The murderer: is it a human, or a beast? A six-part crime thriller about a long-time guilt and anger, directed by Jan Stehlík and shot in the beautiful landscape of Šumava. (Finále Plzeň)

The first two episodes got me excited, only to be followed by a huge disappointment. I was expecting a series with a great atmosphere and well-built suspense, but from the third episode on, the atmosphere and tension gradually faded away, and were replaced by errors in logic. The creators weren't able to avoid some clichés, so I wasn't very satisfied with the final product. It’s a real shame because the beginning was really interesting. ()
Finally, a quite tasteful crime story that cleverly works with the motif of dark heritage from an even darker era of our contemporary history. The use of Sumava locations is almost flawless, the gradual unraveling of the story and the final resolution are well above average. In the genre of Czech crime stories, one of the peaks of recent years. Only the inauthentic performance by Krystof Hadek unfortunately somewhat spoils it at times. Otherwise, a lot of great satisfaction. [80%] ()
