Biography

Hitoshi Matsumoto first became known as the boke half the popular comic owarai duo "Downtown". Since 1990, he has appeared in numerous popular television comedic shows. His directing debut "Big Man Japan" (2007), in which he also starred, was screened at the Rotterdam Film Festival. In his subsequent comedies "Symbol" (2009), "Scabbard Samurai" (2010), which were screened at major international festivals, he raises serious questions presented in an unconventional quirky manner.
