The war is over, the Bódogs are starving. The Vargas take Bódog to the restoration works of an espresso. Their life is improving when workers are recruited for the construction works of the Kossuth bridge. Bódog, the bridge builder craftsman cannot resist, thus misery is upon them again since he don't get salary. Aunt Ilus sets Erzsi and the little baby free: she recommends Erzsi to the Professors' to work as a maid-of-all-work. It happens here, that Erzsi, listening to the radio, can hear the distress call of her husband who holds on heroically. She hijacks a truck convoy making illegal trade and she takes them to the bridge, to her husband. The bridge stands up on its feet in the ice drift. Just like the country itself.
