Plots(1)

Dr. Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston) feels like he’s made it - he’s moved into a luxury high-rise, seeking soulless anonymity. However, the building’s residents have no intention of leaving him alone and it isn’t long before the veneer of civilisation begins to collapse, and darker human urges begin to surface, and Laing’s good manners and sanity disintegrate along with the building. From acclaimed director Ben Wheatley, and based on the classic novel by J.G. Ballard, comes a unique and dazzling vision of a dystopian Britain on the brink of social meltdown. (Park Circus)

English I was looking forward to High Rise since the first trailer, unfortunately Ben Wheatley prefers boredom to fun as he has shown in his previous films, and he confirms it now. The idea of the film is decent, but underutilized. I was hoping for a civilized Snowpiercer, what I got was an over-desined posh borefest that even Tom Hiddleston can't save. The scene where Hiddleston flays a man's head was the most interesting in the whole film. In short, a non-sensual mess of dream scenes. 40% ()

English Nobody can explain to me what kind of nonsense I have just watched. I was looking forward to a clever and interesting sci-fi set into the 1970s. But the result was possibly the most yawn-inducing extract of boredom I have seen recently. And it wasn’t salvaged even by the interesting architecture and the qualities of the cameraman connected with it. That is the only part where you can talk about quality. ()

English At first glance, the movie has an interesting cast, but upon watching it, you will realize that this is actually a pretentious film that thinks a bit of violence and rough scenes will help, as it has nothing else to say. It's like watching a party of worn-out, horny, but highly socially positioned losers. ()
