I love GTA. I love Rockstar. Ever since. And I'm not under the illusion that Gamechangers is a credible masterpiece. It's not. Rockstar itself did not bless the film, and the BBC's creative work is evidently playing both sides. From the Hot Coffee scandal, R* did not emerge unscathed as stated in the film; they received the highest fine in the history of the video game industry... which they managed to erase with the release of another game, namely GTA IV, but let no one tell me that the self-righteous lawyer Jack Thompson didn't get what he deserved. He fabricated evidence, insulted everyone from the Chief Justice to the CEO of R* Sam Houser himself, rightfully losing his license, and his portrayal in the media doesn't quite match that of Billa Paxton. And as for the murderous machine at the police station (yes, that guy, of course, he's that guy :D), does the BBC really want to imply that Gta Vice City taught him to cold-bloodedly shoot police officers in the head... that it trained him to do something like that? Despite all that, the film really caught my attention. It needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but I've always been curious about how things work at Rockstar and how they came up with the cult missions in their two most beloved games. And better to have some perspective than none at all... And it's unlikely that any corporation will ever really show how things truly are there... PS: Want an external perspective on the matter? I highly recommend this! ... 90% ()
Very good for a TV film. Grand Theft Auto is a gaming legend I spent dozens of hours playing. So I know something about this topic, and it was nice to take a peek inside Rockstar Games. Daniel Radcliffe as Sam Houser was great. I also liked how the film tried to be impartial, not favoring one side over the other. Even though that the Christian lawyer seemed to be quite a psycho. What can you do, America is full of those. ()
