40-year old Oleg Markov, a successful surgeon is about to commit suicide when a phone call from his clinic stops him from taking this drastic step. The life of a 10-year old boy is at risk. While Oleg fights to save the child, he is reminded of his own formative years and of several lost opportunities. The world back then was full of meaning. Oleg played the guitar and he fell in love with first-year student Marta who wore ugly glasses but who loved him, a senior student, so touchingly. Who could know that this plain girl would turn his life upside down ten years later? And that it would be Oleg, who would be ready to do anything for her including leaving his family. However, when a fateful accident separates them, it is Oleg's wife who sits by his bedside for months at a time while Marta disappears from his life. And now it is Marta, grown more beautiful with the years, who is sitting by the bedside of the boy Oleg has just saved. A thought flashes through Oleg's mind – could this boy be his son? And suddenly, the reason for Marta's disappearance becomes immediately obvious. They arrange to meet, but now it is Oleg's turn to keep a secret. He is terminally ill, and a complete lack of hope have led him to his suicide attempt. When Marta discovers his illness, she persuades him to undergo surgery. Recovering from a difficult operation, Oleg dreams of his son playing the guitar; playing the same song the girl in glasses wrote for him so many years before. (Star Media)
