They were best friends at school, and their band Gromozeko was well respected. Now in their mid-forties and living in present-day Moscow, the three men meet once a year to reminisce about the good old days – unaware of each other’s problems. While his colleagues are out catching criminals, policeman Vasya is stuck in the office; the fact that his wife is cheating on him doesn’t help. Mozerov, a taxi driver, not only has to deal with obnoxious passengers, but also with the discovery that his daughter is working in the porn industry. And surgeon Eduard is having an affair with his assistant, but unable to get rid of his wife. “I am so unlucky in life” is their common complaint. Oscillating between the amusingly absurd and the gravely serious, this anthology film weaves together the gloomy stories of three men with low-key elegance. (Zurich Film Festival)
