Biography

Shemi Zarhin: Film director, screenwriter and novelist. He has created some of Israel's most successful, awarded and acclaimed films in recent years, among them: Passover Fever (Awarded at Montreal world FF and many other International film festivals, 1995), Dangerous Acts (Winner of 7 Israeli Academy awards, including Best Director, 1998), Bonjour Monsieur Shlomi (Winner of numerous awards in International film festivals including the FIPRESCI award in Festroia IFF Portugal, 2003), Aviva My Love (Winner of awards in Chicago IFF, Shanghai IFF and other International film festivals, as well as 6 Israeli academy Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Script, 2006), The World is Funny (Palm Springs IFF 2013, Chicago IFF 2012), The Kind Words (Toronto IFF, 2015), Silent (closing night film at Haifa IFF, 2022). His first novel, Some Day (Aa Sheylom Echad), one of Israel's bestsellers ever, was published in USA and listed among the Notable Translated books of 2013 by World Literature Today and Words Without Borders. Some Day was also published in Turkey, Italy and The Czech Republic.
