Biography

Óscar Herman Davison Bascurt was a prolific Chilean-born filmmaker with an international career that saw him work mostly in Mexico and Argentina. While having already early on shown a special feel for (melo)drama (eg. La sin ventura, 1948; Cape Horn, 1956; The White Sister, 1960), he also excelled in other genres, like the musical comedy (Música de siempre, 1958); films like El caso de la mujer asesinadita (1955) or La edad de la inocencia (1962) suggest a fine surrealist inspiration.
