By far the most atmospheric (the music!) and the best western of the last decade. And the fact that it's an animated short based on a comic book doesn't change any of that; nor does the fact that there wasn't really much competition. ()
Clear evidence that with a bit of common sense, a feature-length Jonah Hex film could have been quite good. In short animated form, it certainly works much better, but I can't help but feel that comics and westerns, though I can consume both in any quantity, just don't fit together properly in the hands of DC. I don't see anything groundbreaking in these shorts labeled DC Showcase. Jonah Hex is a well-designed character, but his stories aren't great. This has the right western feel to it, but what happens here isn't really interesting to me and didn't really pull me in. The women are drawn in a sexy way, but more out of obligation, because it just has to be there. ()
