Palestinian student Nimer, dreaming of a better life abroad, and Israeli lawyer Roy meet in a Tel Aviv nightclub and instantly share a strong connection. Nimer's student visa grants him easy access across the border, but as their love develops, he is confronted with the harsh realities of both Palestinian society, unable to accept his sexuality, and an Israeli society rejecting his ethnicity. The tension is further heightened by Nimer's conservative family and his brother Nabil, who leads a group of religious fanatics. After an incident resulting in the murder of his close friend hiding illegally in Tel Aviv, Nimer must choose between his dreams and his feelings for Roy. (Febiofest)

"I didn't plan to fall in love with you. All I know is that I want to be with you." Out in the Dark skillfully combines a romantic drama with an almost criminal thriller and depicts the difficult situation in Palestine/Israel through the story of two men brought together by fate. The film has a slower start, but then everything starts to pick up and the plot comes to a halt at the thrilling conclusion, which left a bittersweet aftertaste in me. Sadly authentic! ()
