So here's the bottom line. If you don't know who Mizuki Shigeru is and what his fate was, you will absolutely not enjoy it and the ending will leave you very uncertain. On the other hand, if you know him, or better yet have seen the series before the movie, it's a whole different ball of wax. You'll enjoy the artistic shots, the scenes that feel almost theatrical, and you'll respect the loss of naivety and the rush of "realism", which wasn't in the series. From life, a poor one, but one full of smiles and crooked teeth. ()
