Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul stars in this riveting drama about a family under siege. Hard-drinking Texas single dad Hollis (Paul) struggles to raise his two boys, including rebellious teenager Jacob (first-time actor Josh Wiggins in a stunning breakthrough performance). Seething with anger, Jacob finds release in the high-risk, white-knuckle world of motocross but his increasingly reckless behavior threatens to spin out of control. Academy Award nominee Juliette Lewis co-stars in this thrilling saga of fathers and sons that builds towards a heart-stopping climax, all set to an electrifying heavy metal soundtrack. (IFC Films)

I was hoping for a grittier drama, but it didn’t quite hit the mark. Aaron Paul plays his usual role—the scruffy, down-and-out guy who can’t seem to get his life together. He’s a single dad, struggling to cook, take care of two kids, and pretty much handle anything. It’s a bit like Big Daddy with Adam Sandler, except here, it’s not funny—just a harsh dose of reality. The problem is, I didn’t feel any real emotional connection to the characters, which made it tough to care about the outcome. By the end, I wasn’t invested at all. ()
