Japan in the late 1960s. The ripples of student revolt reach all the way to the city of Sendai in the north-eastern part of the country. Kyoko is at the vanguard of the protests demanding an end to the school uniform regulations, but her revolutionary zeal fades when she falls in love with Wataru. It's a complicated relationship where Kyoko constantly feels she is not getting her due attention and increasingly wonders about the nature of the relationship between Wataru and his sister Setsuko. When her best friends turns out to be pregnant, the gates to hell open up and Kyoko's world crumbles. A Capella spans two years. A short time during which Kyoko transforms from an innocent schoolgirl into a woman who has seen both forbidden things and violent death. A razor sharp film with excellent acting.
