Latino Lex Vargas (John Leguizamo) träumt von einer Karriere als Profiboxer. In der Hoffnung aufs große Geld lässt er sich auf den zwielichtigen Promoter Mack (Omar Benson Miller) ein. This movie isn’t badly filmed or acted, nor is the screenplay the worst ever. It’s just that it’s terribly mediocre, with nothing new or original; just the same thing we have seen a hundred times before. Obviously this is a project close to John Leguizamo’s heart (judging by the fact that he is credited as director, producer and screenwriter, and plays the main role) and something that was well-handled, but, to tell the truth, it seems to me to be an utterly superfluous movie.
