Englisch My impression of the first season is very positive. I didn’t read anything about it beforehand, so I thought it was going to be a Batman series. I certainly didn't expect Bruce Wayne to be little more than the “glint in the milkman's eye” as Edmund would say. It's basically a prequel to the Batman films, so the main characters are a long way from being superheroes and it's mainly the local police department that has to deal with the Gotham underworld. I enjoy the gradual development of both the positive and negative characters and I'm pleased with the cast and the now classic Gotham atmosphere. ()

Englisch 27.9. 2014: Pilot mega luxury. Stan Lee is my witness that I am a big fan of Batman mythology (probably the only thing from DC), but I had big doubts about the series at the beginning. I've been following Arrow almost from the beginning, started Gotham too, which is a whole different story. Superbly written, brilliantly captured noir detective story with one more sympathetic character than the other and carefully crafted geeky atmosphere. That's how you have to do it. Above all, I was captivated by the casting, and although I only know Donald Logue from elsewhere, which actually contributes to the fact that you don't associate actors with other roles and enjoy their characters. I have not a single complaint about the casting (Catwoman, Penguin, Falcone are amazing)...EDIT 28.4.2019: Since I changed my opinion on the above-mentioned series, a bit on Gotham as well. The series started excellently, I fell in platonic love with Catwoman, although Gordon occasionally made weird faces, the whole series managed to hold up and I was very interested in the storyline with Bruce and Alfred. Overall, I rated the first seasons very positively, but the pre-finale episodes and the finale itself didn't interest me as much, even though it was supposed to be grandiose, unfortunately, I sometimes felt awkward (An example is Penguin's "speech" above the city in the first season). But these are just minor things, I enjoyed watching it and I stayed until the end. By far the best for me was the fourth season, which had not a single dull moment and I enjoyed it to the fullest...unfortunately, Legend of the Dark Knight didn't catch me at all, except for the finale, which was supposed to be stretched over the whole season. Overall, it was a beautiful five years, and I'm glad they didn't drag it out unnecessarily. Best moments : 1) Joker played by Magor didn't stand out in any special way, but he managed to captivate me even in a small space. 2) A taste of Edward Nygma, every scene of his is worth it. 3) Simply Selina Kyle! 4) Loyal Butch. Englisch Judging by the name and the creators’ promises, I was expecting a tough crime movie building on the genus loci of Gotham City, which also happens to be about Batman, but which primarily is able to stand by itself as a gritty crime movie with a sturdy, non-superhero comic-book superstructure for adults. But the opposite is true. The genesis of Batman’s friends/enemies plays first fiddle and Gotham and the criminal aspects play second, which is a shame because those parts are the best that appear in the series. Both aspects hold each other back. The criminal parts are spoiled by the fact that anybody you come into contact with in Gotham will necessarily be someone from the DC Universe and the fates of each of these villains are restricted by the forced grafting into the Gordon storyline; the only situation this doesn’t apply is with the mafia. We see heavily stylized characters that have come straight out of Batman comics and series of the sixties alongside a serious storyline for adults which is taken extremely seriously, no tongue in cheek. It’s trying to catch too many rabbits using mutually exclusive styles and plus it is full to the brim with references to DC characters in every other sentence; which isn’t positive, because the result is something so unrefined and dumbly combined, it’s incredible (while Arrow/Flash is one of the few that can do the same with style). However, there’s no denying that it’s a pretty good watch if your brain is switched off, but that’s about all. Which, in the current plethora of quality series (even those based on comic books), is simply inadequate. ()

Englisch I'm satisfied. The pre-Batman era is off to a good start. The acting is perfect. Gordon is cute, the Riddler will be fun, the Penguin is properly sleazy, Catwoman is very cute, hopefully she'll get more space next time and Fish Mooney looks pretty tough. Gotham is properly dark and gloomy, the brutality is surprising too. The third episode is behind us and it's clear what's going on. The Penguin is slowly getting to his dark side and is starting to be a nice beast, Catwoman has been given more space and is lovely, and I especially like that not only the Penguin but other criminal residents of Gotham are on a rampage in each episode. You really wouldn't want to live in this city! For me, the best show of the year so far. ()
