Michael Gazda made the Polish version of Heat and it's a fucking blast! The Poland/Netflix connection has worked again and it's a very high quality show. We have a very botched heist that was supposed to be a smooth job, only to be mercilessly carried off by a group of women and things get rough. An old secret police man who has lost everything and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty is called in – Olaf Lubaszenko is excellent. Finally a detective whose work I really enjoyed. Great music, great direction, great acting, solid dialogue, a well-developed script that shows the robbery in flashbacks and only at the very end we see how it was. The whole thing builds up very well, no tension is spared and the atmosphere is masterful. The central scumbag is a really classy, cold-blooded bastard. Yeah, the Poles are good at this. Good film. 8/10. ()
