inglés After rewatching the first installment, I decided to give this one a shot, despite not expecting much after my last experience. The only glimmer of hope I had was the film's release year; surely, in almost ten years, some flaws could have been ironed out, right? To start on a positive note, the plot was somewhat more engaging, and I even felt that the acting performances weren't as wooden. However, that was about the extent of it. The script suffered from some questionable logic, and the occasional unfazed dialogues following a bloody scene were truly priceless. Once again, I failed to experience any real tension, although I did find myself growing fond of Reggie. However, I still believe that the effort put into producing the four-barrel shotgun wasn't worth it. / Lesson learned: If you keep your expectations low, you won't be disappointed. ()

inglés Interesting. The first time around, I liked the second Phantasm a lot more than the first. Now I’ve watched both of them again a day apart and I feel that I was unfair to the first and that my memories of the second were too rosy. Either way, you can see the bigger budget in the second one: there’s more blood, more dwarves and more flying balls. The story is also bigger in scope, which I didn’t particularly like, the small town setting of the first one was better – and actually, the story of the second one is more fun when it moves to a new small town (and it makes you quickly forget all that driving around). Nice, atmospheric and fun horror. If only the story made a bit more sense, the characters acted more logically and the actors were better. But that’s too much to ask. ()

inglés The American production Phantasm II is a great follow-up to the first movie, and perhaps even better, at least in the sense of how wacky and fantastical the whole thing is. The horror is played down in favor of comedy and bizarre situations. However, the movie is still very action-packed, and it is just a ride from start to finish. You never know what is going to happen to who and how the scary balls are going to take over again. By the way, the special effects are still excellent. ()
