Comeback

How quickly can something turn you off? Even though Tom's naivety, Lex's stupidity, or Sasha's invisibility are quite entertaining at least for a couple of times in the beginning, after ten episodes it is almost unbearable. Unoriginal and only a slightly amusing variation of what has already been seen countless times. (13.11.2008)

Is it impossible to shoot a Czech sitcom that is actually funny? Well, lo and behold, you have just visited its profile. Comeback may have a very specific sense of humor and I understand that many people have prejudices against it or simply don't like it. However, for me, Comeback is a top-notch Czech comedy series, of which there are really almost no numbers. Besides a couple of episodes, all are excellent and the scripts are filled with witty lines. The plot is also incredibly original by Czech standards. The casting is also excellent, and since Comeback, I haven't seen Matonoha in a single likable role. Great performances by Babčáková and Batulková. Simply put, for me, it's fantastic, and I don't intend to be swayed by the dry local ratings. (22.01.2019)
