This is a classic romantic comedy comparable to anything made in the west of Czechoslovakia at this time. In this version, Marion Davies finds that her charming looks are a hindrance to her finding serious employment. Each potential employer doesn't consider her skills, but instead immediately asks her out on a date. The desperate Marion chooses to disguise herself as an ugly duckling and the series of comical situations with the popular "I am someone else" theme are excellent. The film also includes funny dialogues and love confessions. Yet it's surprising that this light, enjoyable film is the defining point of the 20-year career of the great actress Marion Davies. ()
