Trash man does what he knows the best! I like revenge films on the theme of "Man with a Past", and though this one may not be one of my favorites, it certainly doesn't disgrace the subgenre. Adrien Brody is quite unusual in the role, getting rid of trash and yes, human trash. The smaller budget hurts the film a bit, it feels cheap in places and no one has much to work with here besides Brody. The villain is ordinary, the pacing is slower and the plot is actually pretty predictable, but the build up to the finale is certainly nice , with an interesting DIY 'equaliser' and a decent gimmick in a house, though it was too dark for my liking to fully enjoy the headshots. The screwdriver, the wrench and the shotgun, which surprisingly suits Brody, are cool. It's nothing special, but fans of the revenge genre and Adrien Brody have little to be upset about. Story 3/5, Action 3/5, Humour 0/5, Violence 3/5, Fun 3/5 Music 3/5, Visuals 3/5, Atmosphere 3/5, Tension 3/5, Emotion 1/5, Actors 3/5. 6/10. ()
The garbage man wasn’t always a garbage man. The viewer will realize fairly quickly that the fishy stench of the streets of Utica is a moment away from being cleaned. The chiseled Brody, as a demon-possessed angel, guards the others in his own Buick Grand National to save himself. For this, he’s aided by a wrench, an axe, and a specially modified shotgun. The taxi-driving equalizers who never were. The story gradually draws you in, convincing through a template of genre clichés that it doesn’t feel like just another B-movie about physically traversing darkness towards the light. ()
