Love at First Sight

A dying subgenre which Netflix revives from time to time simply by putting it on the front page. I used to quite like Haley Lu Richardson a few years ago, and I was sorry that she couldn't find too many interesting projects after Split, now she is on a good path after White Lotus and this film just confirms it. It's kind of subtle, unobtrusive, and although I wouldn't want it to sound sexist, you can see that it's shot from a female perspective and it's all a bit more naive than not only life itself presents in similar situations but also many scriptwriting variations in various forms. But still, as a feel-good 90-minute piece ideal for a long rainy evening. (20.09.2023)

Love at First Sight looks "at first sight" like yet another in a long line of dopey Netflix-produced romantic confections, but "at second sight" it's a nicely made affair with some interesting ideas - whether it was the "statistically" tuned script, the unconventional "many faces" narrator, or the last goodbye alive. I originally thought it was going to be a pure romance, but in addition to the light-hearted "love at first sight" theme, the film also played on a more serious note - but not in an underwhelming way, which is appreciated.
