(Future film)

englanti I’ve avoided this sequel for a long time. Melancholic returns to such legendary works usually turn out to be way too melancholic. But it’s different this time since this movie perfectly distanced itself from the first one. The humor is where it’s lacking though. It’s often more cringy than funny. And that’s a lot considering Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey play the exact same two idiots as they did 20 years ago. But with movies, humor does it. Here, one funny moment is followed by two cringy ones. Which is a shame, but there’s nothing we can do about it. ()

englanti Sadly, Dumb and Dumber To is a totally unworthy sequel to the excellent road movie that instantly carved out a place among the best comedies of the 90s. The Farrelly brothers reused the same material they had used years earlier, but from the likable goofs in the original, they made selfish, puffy fools. And the vision of tired Jim Carrey features is rather sad than comical. Who could have wished for such a number two? ()

englanti I thought no comedy was going to surprise me this year after 22 Jump Street and Suck Me Shakespeer, and wham Jim Carrey returns after 20 years and made mincemeat out of me again. An incredibly slick, cheeky, funny and catchy comedy, this type of humour suits me. Carrey's quips never get old, he's such a great comedian. The great thing is that the jokes don't let up and from start to finish these two jerks are on a treadmill making up everything they can and I was rolling on the floor laughing. Some interesting twists and turns and Rob Riggly's disguise is unforgettable. 80% ()

englanti The return of truly distinctive characters, different from the legendary first movie only in that "Dumb" is now "Dumber" and "Dumber" is now "the Dumbest" (if you know what I mean...). Yes, it's unbelievably stupid, but only in the sense that the story mostly recycles old jokes and situations and as a whole resembles something an eight-year-old scribbled on a piece of paper an hour before and under the pressure of the approaching bell. BUT most of the individual jokes, whether rehashed or original, maintain an admirable level and, most importantly, there are so many of them even in one scene that a few cringe ones can easily go unnoticed. Both Carrey and Daniels exude incredible vivacity and enjoy their roles in an unprecedented way, but I'm all the more pleased with the fact that the sudden fits of laughter were never caused by their goofiness, but by a well-thought-out or just-right joke written in the script. Sure, I was quite influenced by the excellent atmosphere in the crowded theatre, but the important thing is that I don't regret the money I spent, so I thought about the fourth star for a while – but it fits, with all due respect, to a slightly more sophisticated form of entertainment... englanti There is a wacky and crazy road trip full of unbelievable situations and a wacky sense of humor, though what else would you expect from Dumb and Dumber? Harry and Lloyd are back, and from the opening joke, when you find out why Lloyd is actually in the asylum, it is obvious that he is in great shape. Plus, Jim Carrey is once again perfect in his role and can show off and goof off like no one else can, and Jeff Daniels proves that he may be the only one who can keep up with Carrey. If anyone was worried that these guys were getting too old and did not have it still in them, I could assure them that they convinced me otherwise. I was wonderfully entertained for the most part, so I cannot rate it any differently than the original movie, although one of those stars is probably out of sheer nostalgia. ()
