Convicted felon Eddie Taylor decides to lead the straight life with his devoted girlfriend, Joan, who arranges for his early parole. Sylvia Sidney and Henry Fonda give very good performances, giving us essentially something like Bonnie and Clyde, but on different terms. It's not that animalistic, but the actors make the story very believable. For example, the scene in the prison when Henry cuts himself is just beautifully shot and acted, and so is the film's finale.
