Good if a little bland, but Jack Nicholson, of course, delivers a superb performance. ()
Wolf didn’t live up to my expectations. Nicholson in the lead made it seem like an interesting fantasy, but it ended up being a completely average film with a typical plot. The title and concept initially grabbed me, but that’s about all it had going for it. ()
One of my most beloved films starring Michelle Pfeiffer and one of the highlights of the retro wave that hit Hollywood on the 60th anniversary of the origins of Universal's classic monster horror films. Then they made a new Dracula, Frankenstein, and after Wolf came another Jekyll and Hyde. For the first time, Louis and Lestat joined in... I see each of these films as a diamond in the rough, an irreplaceable part of my growing up, and I will always be grateful to them. Today, I watch them in ever better copies and hope they will never be forgotten and become an inspiration like their predecessors. ()
A successful attempt to utilize the werewolf motif in a horror set in modern American settings, relying on a very decent cast, with Jack Nicholson in particular delivering his traditionally excellent performance, utilizing his expressive facial expressions to create a strong impression and tension in individual scenes. Overall impression: 80%. ()
Cruelly below my personal expectations. Jack Nicholson is an exceptional actor, whether he plays a wolf or anything else, that’s a fact no one can deny, and in this case, he literally saved what could be saved; his performance is excellent. Mike Nichols manages to create something resembling an atmosphere, but the suspense is nothing special, the make-up effects are downright tragic, and the overall visual execution is terribly television-like. Is this supposed to be a famous and brilliantly shot horror film? It doesn't seem like it to me. A heavily average affair with an overacting James Spader, whose wolf eyes were so unbelievable that it led to a smile. Mediocre overall, primarily thanks to Jack. ()
