Myron Breckenridge (Rex Reed) is a frustrated homosexual who undergoes a sex-change operation, against the advice of his doctor. As a result, Myron becomes Myra (Raquel Welch), a stunningly beautiful woman with a rocket of a body. Myra moves to the South and enrolls at a university, where her adventures include sodomizing a Southern man--and stealing his girlfriend while she's at it. In general, the bodacious, lewd Myra wreaks havoc on Southern conventions in this outrageous classic film. (texte officiel du distributeur)

Mae West's return to the big screen after 27 years couldn't have been better. Myra Breckinridge is such a bold bit of smut that Mae really couldn't have chosen better. It's genius to have so much respect for the 1935-1945 film era in a film from the 1970s. I'd rather not even know what Laura Mulvey thought of it. :D Leticia Van Allen outshined all of American pornography, even though she had such babes as Raquel and Farrah at her disposal.
