To the review about Luther: So the BBC almost made it to the Pentagon; almost. Hidden certainly has its qualities, but it doesn’t make the grade completely. It tries to be (neo)noir, but it’s more like a political thriller, not unlike State of Play, that turns into a “British 24" in the last episode. Hidden draws mainly from its atmosphere and the charismatic Glenister, but less from the screenplay. Which is in no way badly written, but is too extensive. I can fault it for just one thing; it should have been cut down into three episodes. But that changes nothing about the fact that I would like to see a follow-up; Harry Venn deserves it. ()
