Marietta, a homely sewing girl, has a letter-pal, a front-line soldier she has never seen. She falls in love with Tamás, this young man. Tamás is so seriously injured that he may not possibly pull through. He is taken to a hospital in Budapest, but the girl frets to see him. She is worried that her homely appearance might be a disappointment for Tamás. She asks Mária, her wealthy and nice-looking client, to pose as Marietta. Thanks to the meeting, Tamás does pull through. Mária poses as Marietta until Tamás fully recovers, but then leaves the young man to return to her own life and her own fiancé. It is while she is preparing for her own wedding that she realizes that she cannot live without Tamás. (texte officiel du distributeur)
