Un chat sous le bras, des portes closes, rien dans les poches, voici Paula, de retour à Paris après une longue absence. Au fil des rencontres, la jeune femme est bien décidée à prendre un nouveau départ. Avec panache. (Cannes Film Festival)

The thirtysomething Paula was unpleasant and unbelievably annoying at the beginning, but I have to say I enjoyed watching her stumble aimlessly through life after her boyfriend left her and how, after a few painful falls on her face, she turned out to be a pretty nice woman. Apart from the unusually loud hysterics of the central character, my ears were also kept busy by a very good soundtrack by Julie Roué. (75%) ()
As an average introduction to the festival totally ideal. Paula is indeed a funny character, but not exceptionally funny enough to deserve more stars from me. Nevertheless, some scenes really pleased and amused (singing in the shower, job interview). The camera work and great soundtracks are worth mentioning, but story-wise Paula doesn't stand out much, so you won't take away too much from the screening. KVIFF 2017 ()
From absolute irritation to surprising harmony - Paula describes an interesting trajectory from a passive, manipulative kicked-aside hysteric to a woman who, despite all the mistakes and setbacks, is able to determine the direction of her life. An unpretentious and intelligent tribute to female tenacity, a drama of everyday mistakes and embarrassments, closeness and chasms. Great respect for the extremely sensitive, detailed directing by Léonor Séraille, and the great performance by Laetitie Dosch. ()
