anglais I didn't expect that this seemingly boring series would turn out to be something so amazing. The Gentlemen is perfect entertainment that grabs the viewer with the first episode and doesn't let go until the end, and thanks to that I devoured every next scene 100 percent and couldn’t wait to turn on the next and the next episode. Acting-wise it's fabulous (Theo James is awesome!), technically even better (Guy Ritchie has an incredible sense of the shot and knows how to spice things up with details that at first glance are pointless, but ultimately make the experience), and as far as suspense and immersion go, the series is flawless. I want a second season immediately, as I haven't gotten such a gem in a long time. ()

anglais Originally, I had no intention of getting into the series, I really like the original Gentlemen, but I was not very tempted by the cast and I thought it would just be a quick series for Netflix without the original actors. The latter was confirmed, but the enthusiastic reviews convinced me that I had to give them a chance...and I definitely didn't expect that it would grab me so much and Theo James and Kaya Scodelario would become the stars of the series for me. I rarely feel like I want to start watching the next episode immediately after finishing one, I'm not a fan of binge-watching at all, but here I did it several times. Hopefully, they will soon release the second season and we will witness more of the fates of these interesting characters, and maybe next time some actors from the movie will join as well. ()

anglais Right from the start, I have to say that I enjoyed the series a lot. However, I was quite disappointed that the creators barely tapped into the potential of, in my opinion, the best character: Jeff, the groundskeeper, gamekeeper, and mentor. I've touched on this in my episode reviews, but it's worth mentioning again that Guy Ritchie didn't fully utilize his potential either. Sure, it wasn't his script, but I still expected a lot more dark humor and something beyond the current cheap tricks. I've noticed that the concept of an unexpected twist has quietly vanished from films and series. Instead, we're stuck with its younger sibling from the Twist family: Expected Twist, who goes by the nickname Essentially Annoying. This nuisance dominated the series, especially in the last three episodes, and it really spoiled the overall experience for me. / Lesson learned: When preserving family traditions and estates, the end justifies the means. anglais Guy Ritchie once again relied on a tried-and-true formula: using the world from his four-year-old film The Gentlemen and turning it into a full-fledged TV series. And it worked! The Gentlemen leans on that distinct, sarcastic British humor we all know... all wrapped in Ritchie's typical style, which has little competition in the audiovisual realm. Moreover, the series boasts a top-notch cast, where I enjoyed every actor on screen, whether they played a main character or just a minor role for a few minutes. Story-wise, Ritchie also tries to work his magic. Some twists you can predict, sure... but at other times, you'll find yourself shaking your head in disbelief at how Ritchie, that old fox, has outsmarted you again. I'm genuinely looking forward to the second season. For me, it's a solid eight. 8/10 ()

anglais Guy Ritchie at his best! For me it's an even more entertaining and coherent experience than the original film, albeit without any proper stars, but it's London Gangster as it should be! The likable Theo James inherits a drug empire after his father dies, with a fortune and its problems to deal with, most of which are caused by his wayward brother Daniel Ings. Alongside Theo, Kaya Scodelario is awesome, and is not only great to watch but has a superbly written character. Ritchie could have pushed the envelope more in terms of action and violence, we get relatively little of that here, but he makes up for it with polished and witty dialogue, great twists, great pacing, cool characters (every new character on the scene is awesome) and a likeable atmosphere. I really devoured the whole series in one breath without blinking an eye, that's how much I enjoyed it. We're only in March and already there are at least five candidates for series of the year. This year is going to be very interesting. 9/10. ()
