angol It feels like any odd episode of a typical Czech police drama with a pair of "detectives" coated in an antistatic layer, strange plot jumps, and the final revelation of the Barber, after which Poirot would exclaim, "Merde!" and tear up his license. I remain fascinated by Jiří Schmitzer's diction as he angrily hurls words like pig, cow, or fuck off. In recent years, this has been his forte, and when I remember the decent guy from other films, I wonder how it can possibly be the same person. ()

angol This TV transcript of the bestselling detective story by Michaela Klevisová is... weak. Unexpectedly. It's cringe-worthy, slow, illogical, and uninteresting. The individual characters seem to be from five different movies, and they have no chemistry. The humorous storyline at the end seems to suggest that we should expect a series with Luboš Veselý and Veronika Arichteva, but that really shouldn't be necessary. ()
