Joan Fontaine plays Christabel Caine, the anti-heroine who has the face of an angel and the heart of a savage. King of Noir Robert Ryan plays the rough-hewn writer who is good enough to share her bed, but not her hand, while Zachary Scott plays the aviator millionaire too much the naïf to escape his fate. Joan Fontaine was perfectly suited for the role and portrayed exactly the angelic bitch you'd wish for. What I wouldn't wish for, however, is the final outcome of the film, which personally I didn't like very much, mainly because it felt so bland. It's not a classic film noir, it's just a film about a calculating woman, but the lead actress makes it good.
