Rom-com, initially so ordinary and classically shot as there are dozens, but after a certain time I did get into the rhythm after all, and I won't deny that Mickey Rourke played a big role in it, whom I don't see very often in new movies and especially not in similar dramas. A very pleasant surprise that I have avoided for unbelievably long... 8/10 ()
There is only one really good thing about this film… and that is Mickey Rourke. And that is because he portrays a fairly normal human being. Normal in the sense that he is no comic book freak nor is his face scary if you look at him. Nevertheless, “normal” is still a relative concept here, because Mickey plays a former hit-man, so what goes in his head are thoughts that probably few people would want to have. The story is about the classic friendship with a youngster. And as Nat Wolff plays a pretty weird kid with stupid remarks and the behavior of a three-year-old, there is nothing left than to be glad that Mickey finally looks pretty good in a film. ()
Mickey Rourke shows once again that he can act and that he doesn't want to take roles just to make money. Here he tries and succeeds with ease, he still has it in him and he complements the young generation seamlessly. His character is intriguing, albeit somewhat clichéd, but the romance subtly presented in the background of his fate, thanks to Emma, is simply nice. ()
