Deep Water

Szeretem Afflecket és Armast, és Lyne Lolita filmje nekem jobban tetszik, mint Kubrické, de ez most nem sikerült. Kapcsolatuk kezdeti hihetetlensége ugyan idővel meg lesz magyarázva, de ez az egyetlen, ahova a film tart és mi a célja: feltárni, mi tartja őket együtt égető féltékenységük és veszélyesen gyilkos játékuk ellenére. De ahhoz, hogy egy ilyen film működjön, intenzívebben kellene ábrázolnia az egyiküknek a másiktól való lelki és fizikai függőségét, különösen gyakoribb és merészebb szexjelenetekkel, amelyek katartikusan kifejezik a kettőjük közötti állandó feszültséget. A Mély víz azonban NEM erotikus thriller, a szex minimális benne, és csak néhány másodpercig tart. És ez itt hiányzik. Jobb választás a korábbi A hűtlen film Richard Gere-rel és Diane Lane-nel. But don’t be fooled; the most dangerous faces of passion are often unreadable. Adrian Lyne has awoken after two decades and made what he does best since Chabrol's original (the theme of infidelity and dealing with an external enemy). Until he lays the cards on the thriller table, he can engage with his weapons, but then the audience will also embark on the downhill journey with the main character, and branches of a strange narrative construct will slap across their faces. During the sparse erotic scenes, Affleck seemed somewhat restrained, as if he were contemplating which generation of Latin American model to choose. (2022.06.28)

Successful thrillers are not abundant on any platform. Deep Water caught my attention from the very beginning. I have always liked Ben Affleck and I was not one of those who said he should stop acting and just direct. Ana de Armas could not have gotten a better role and I can only imagine a very few actresses who could handle it as convincingly, passionately, and look as sexy at the same time. The movie is full of well-known names and faces, but the central duo dominates. Adrian Lyne took a damn long break. In conjunction with Sam Levinson, it was worth it. (2024.03.31)

A contrived stylistic exercise in the "erotic suspense thriller" genre that is severely far-fetched and probably unintentionally self-parodying right from the first few minutes. The sight of a naked Ana de Armas is a pleasure, which is also the only reason why I would recommend this film with gusto. A festival of screenwriting impotence and cluelessness. [25%] (2022.03.19)
