A vibe similar to The Pursuit of Happyness. Here, though, there's also a heartbreaking ending. One of those movies that evokes strong emotions in me. A beautiful and moving script. Will Smith gives the performance of a lifetime and is extremely charismatic. Direction by G. Muccino suits him perfectly. ()
Will Smith had a very successful career. The vast majority of people always liked him in action roles, where he always delivered incredibly, but I dare say that his dramatic role suits him even more. A comparison with The Pursuit of Happyness is obvious, of course, when there are so many common variables, and just like in his previous collaboration with this director, the main theme is upfront, and it's up to the viewer whether they will submit to this likable emotional attack or not. The film starts very slowly and initially gives no answers, losing a bit of its breath around halfway, but those who have seen it and enjoyed it can confirm that it's worth it. Especially if they have absolutely no idea about the main idea of the story... 9/10 ()
A kitschy play on emotions that runs out of surprises after less than half an hour. It’s been long since I last saw such a predictable and yet relatively ambitious film. Otherwise, it has everything: a joyful run on a beach, a dramatic run in the rain, photos on a wall and newspaper clippings. Cliché incarnated. ()
Somehow I wasn’t sure at the beginning why this was all happening and where the whole story was going. For a good hour you don’t know anything for sure. Will’s acting is great and as usual he’s a nice guy. On the other hand the main evil (or bad guy) I see here is a JOB, any kind of job which is waiting for you round every corner and keeps on bothering you constantly via your cell phone. Your job is meant to serve your life, not the other way round. ()
This drama hit me hard. I’ve been a fan of Will Smith since Bad Boys, and he keeps proving he’s a reliable pick for a great film. There aren’t many actors who can pull off both comedy and heavy drama, but with Will, it feels like he can do it all. The story of Tim, a man drowning in guilt and determined to change the lives of seven people to atone, is absolutely heart-wrenching—especially his relationship with Emily, who’s literally racing against time.
