Jeanne, a married writer with two children, starts to see unsettling changes in her home. Her body is beginning to change but no one around her seems to notice. Her family dismisses these fears as the result of the stress of having to finish her next book, but Jeanne realizes that something far deeper, far more disturbing is taking place. A photograph at her mother's house sends her in search of a woman in Italy. Here, transformed into another woman, RosaMaria, she will discover the strange secret of her true identity. Engels A hopelessly botched attempt at a more poetic Lost Highway without the porn. As for the plot, which is supposed to make the audience relate to it and engage them in difficult psychological issues, all we can do is watch in bewilderment, asking what the hell the filmmakers were trying to do. Don’t Look Back is a case of wasted potential of beautiful actresses and a pleasant visual and musical retro atmosphere. ()

Engels The ambitious, interesting subject with an attractive cast was unfortunately not turned into a truly engaging film. That is a great shame and a missed opportunity. ()

Engels Although the story is ordinary and the viewer must not expect a surprising point (there really isn't one - in fact, there probably shouldn't have been one), it is still several times more interesting and better, more appealingly written than, for example, the rather similar-in-atmosphere Black Swan. In addition, both Monica Bellucci and Sophie Marceau give great performances and are very nice to look at, the direction is good and makes a film that could easily have been very boring, very entertaining indeed. There are also some (very decent) visual effects, the absence of hysterical and self-consciously scary or repulsive scenes (yes, I'm comparing it with Swan again)... I see no reason to give less than four stars. ()

Engels I knew what I was getting into and I didn't expect a groundbreaking film. I can understand why critics and journalists in Cannes were laughing, but the malicious laughter of Ne te retourne pas definitely doesn't deserve it. So I had my own theory about the point, which eventually revealed itself to us, and I'm not sure if my idea overlaps with the author's. However, I still think it's an interesting attempt at a mysterious thriller, I wouldn't consider it a rip-off of Lynch's films. Still, when I had a difficult choice of whether to go to the premiere of Antichrist or Ne te retourne pas, I'm glad I chose the first option. ()
