An easygoing comedy, pulled up by the hilarious duo Mark Wahlberg - Will Ferrel and decent situational humour. You laugh out loud quite a bit, but at times the film stumbles probably because of the kids, which is a shame. Worth a look, though. 65% ()
Benga on Standby from the same duo I like a lot, but this is a bit of a different genre. I laughed occasionally and if it weren't for the great ending, I would rate it slightly above average, but I actually quite enjoyed it from the beginning. A classic, silly Farrelly comedy. They could have spared us those terrible tricks, those scenes didn't need to be there at all. PS: I can't imagine Vince Vaughn playing Mark's role... 7/10 ()
A weak three stars. Some moments had me laughing out loud (the U ramp, the basketball, or the motorbike), but the film also had way too many dull moments, which were unfunny or downright cringey. The supporting characters, Griff and Leo, were great, I would even venture to say that it was thanks to them that the film got over a few weaker moments. ()
Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg go to extremes in this comedy; they took an ordinary life situation and created a comedy that explicitly called for it. What is nice, however, is that they were able to leave out the gross stuff and based the jokes on the individual sketches. In some parts, the jokes seemed really great, and even though the entire movie isn’t like that, those few scenes definitely make it worth it to watchthis piece and relax a bit. ()
Will Ferrell is actually playing Clark Griswold, and the film is at its best in those moments when he's manfully swaggering and we know that a terrible catastrophe is on the horizon, we just have no idea what exactly. In this respect, Daddy’s Home will not only make you laugh, but also surprise you. It's just a pity that at the end we get those hackneyed clichés about family values, however much the writers try not to take them seriously. ()
