Refined performances by Jiřina Bohdalová, Martin Růžek and Radoslav Brzobohatý, a sultry "something is in the air and it's not good" atmosphere, and a chilling conclusion. Kat nepočká still offers all of this. It is true, however, that the director and his team did not succeed in evoking the period atmosphere this time. However, this, together with the somewhat unnecessarily drawn-out runtime, is the only thing that can be faulted about the film. Otherwise, it is an honest spectacle that should be better known.__P.S. Fifteen-year-old Oldřich Kaiser is adorable in his first film role. ()
Strong dramatic material elevates this otherwise average television affair in terms of production quality and budget to a four-star level. Jiřina Bohdalová and Radoslav Brzobohatý deliver decent performances, though in Kachyňa's The Ear, for example, they were a class better. Norbert Frýd wrote intriguing dialogue that truly conveys the oppressive atmosphere of the Protectorate. Overall impression: 70%. ()
