We can now complete our overview of classic world literature adaptations. It is quite striking that despite the novel's popularity with filmmakers around the world, none of the hundred or so retellings has made any significant mark on the subconscious. Thanks to the gentle humor combined with a noble faith in adventure, I happily accepted this version. You know, we modern doctors in 1605 are not the barbarians we were when we wanted to fill your veins every Friday! No, absolutely not! Those of us with a bachelor’s degree know that only Thursday is scientific. (31.10.2010)
