Barefoot

"Barefoot" is one of those smaller festival films that easily gets lost in the flood of more famous movies. It is a romantic feel-good film that doesn't offer anything extraordinary, but will please fans of the genre. The main roles are played by an unknown but likeable duo, whom you will probably grow fond of and empathize with. In a supporting role, the always excellent J.K. Simmons appears, and even though he doesn't get much screen time, he plays an important part in the story, which will surely delight his fans. Overall, it is a well-made film about two people and their problems, with the author likely drawing from life experiences. 90 minutes will fly by...85% (14.08.2014)

When I realized after a few minutes that I had actually seen this movie and that it's actually a remake of the German film Barefoot, to which I gave 85%, I couldn't believe the atrocities the Americans committed in this film. Instead of making a slightly different romance like the Germans did well, this is just a classic romance trying to convince us it's deeper because it involves a promiscuous man and a quirky girl. Speedman and Wood excellently demonstrate how bad they are as actors because compared to Schweiger and Wokalek, they are absolutely pitiful. They have no depth. This is one of the most shocking things I've seen in a long time. And I regularly watch B-grade shit... (27.04.2014)
