Guy Dufaux

Guy Dufaux is a multi-award winning French-born Canadian cinematographer. He immigrated to Canada in 1965. He is recognized internationally as a leading cinematographer and is known for his transformative screen imagery.

His filmography includes many of the highest-profile feature films to come from Québec including Denys Arcand's THE DECLINE OF THE AMERICAN EMPIRE" (1986), JESUS OF MONTREAL (1989) and the Oscar-winning THE BARBARIAN INVASIONS (2003). Other notable films include Jean-Claude Lauzon's UN ZOO LA NUIT (1987) a standout at Cannes and Lauzon's striking thriller LÉOLO (1992) as well as Yves Simoneau's POUVOIR INTIME (1986).

JESUS OF MONTREAL and UN ZOO LA NUIT picked up best cinematography Genie Awards, and Dufaux received nominations for STARDOM, LE POLYGRAPHE, LÉOLO, MOODY BEACH and EQUINOXE. In 2002 Dufaux received the CSC Kodak New Century Award, as well as the Jutra Award for best direction of photography for TAR ANGEL. His work on the television pilot HAVEN received a Gemini award for Best Photography in a TV series and he also received Best Artistic Contribution at the Montréal World Film Festival (2006) for THE CHINESE BOTANIST'S DAUGHTERS. Guy has been nominated for three Jutra awards for LES INVASIONS BARBARES (2003), L'ANGE DE GOUDRON (2001) and NGUOL THÙA (1998).

Dufaux has shot more than 70 features, Tele-movies, series' episodes and miniseries. Notable more recent credits include Denys Arcand's DAYS OF DARKNESS, Louis Bélanger's TIME KEEPER, Jacob Tierney's THE TROTSKY and GOOD NEIGHBORS and the award winning BARNEY'S VERSION with director, Richard J. Lewis.
