"Places" is a story about adolescence, the first tentative steps into adulthood and of tragedy in form of an unexpected encounter with death. It also explores the complex relationship between parents and children and their often powerless attempts to connect with each other. (texto oficial do distribuidor)

I got used to the suffocating stillness of the plot, in which actors recite all the dialogue like a Sunday poetry hour, maybe right up to the night visit to the forest. At that moment, I understood how quickly this timid stumbling through life can change the mood and finally managed to believe in it. Pushing it to a finish succeeds only halfway (mainly because of the presence of four different possible endings), but my sympathies remain relatively strong. Sending such an anti-theatrical morsel to a domestic audience is simply courageous. ()
Places is said to provoke viewer speculation about what it was all about. We should appreciate Robert Nebřenský’s complexly drawn character. Yes, that is a possibility. I don't want to argue about all the works of Radim Špaček, but among all the forms of contemporary Czech film, Places is for me the representative of what I miss the most. I, therefore, have no interest in speculation and I already had a problem with Nebřenský's "realistic" acting in Tobruk. ()
From the beginning, I really liked the Places, but I felt that it was not completely clear where and why they were heading, which unfortunately was completely fulfilled, especially in the last half hour. It's a shame because the atmosphere, music, and (I'm going to repeat myself) the excellent Jan Cina confirm the enormous potential. Maybe if the creators let the film mature for a year or two, and then returned to the subject with a clear head, a significantly reworked but meaningful movie could be created. This way, confusion, ambivalence, and a big question mark remain in the viewer's mind - what did I actually see and what was the movie about at all ?! ()
