There are such great scenes here, incredibly imaginative, that I just can't rate it lower, but still, it's a weird movie that I was apprehensive about. My fears were well-founded. It's just such a strange film, such a strange western, but it has its own logic and great ideas. I'll have to watch it again sometime in the future because this is a film that deserves more viewings.

Self-absorbed symbolist muck of an unbearable narcissist, who completely ignores all the other elements that are somehow needed in movies, such as editing, masks, or framing, so that you can't see that the sets are sets and the extras don't know what to do. I give it five stars for the pictures, otherwise flush it down the toilet. After several books and two movies, it's clear to me that Jodorowsky is an enemy. I'll just check off Holy Mountain and then I'll never have to deal with him again. I promise.
