Den of Wolves is a co-op technothriller shooter. It was developed by 10 Chambers, known for GTFO. The studio was founded by former employees of Overkill, responsible for the first two PayDay games.
Plot
The game is set at the end of the 21st century. Machine learning artificial intelligence has made it impossible to secure computer systems and the information within against hackers.
In response, corporations created an innovation zone of Midway City with no legal restrictions. Soon after, they developed new technology of storing data in human brains, making it inaccessible to AI.
The invention stabilized the economy and turned Midway City into a metropolis, with every significant corporation stationed there. Players control a group of outcasts, engaging in industrial sabotage and espionage for wealthy clients.
Mechanics
Den of Wolves is a co-op FPS, in which groups of four players carry out heists. The game focuses on dynamic combat against AI-controlled forces and heavily emphasizes cooperation.
Heists take place both in the real world and within the minds of people holding important corporate secrets. Before major operations, we'll head out on small recon missions to gather necessary information. Before each heist we must create a detailed plan, which the game then helps us with by leading us to previously set objectives.
Many elements, such as positions of characters, objectives and guards, are determined randomly. This means missions have lots of replayability, as each playthrough is slightly different.
Game modes
The game only supports online co-op.
Technical aspects
Den of Wolves features appealing visuals and an intriguing futuristic artstyle. The game runs on the Unity engine.
