Released on the Epsilon PC platform, Epsilon is a tactical FPS team shooter with a special focus on strategy and planning. The game was created by Seattle's independent Serellan studio, which included veterans of the industry, previously collaborating on such titles as Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Mad Max, MAG and Ghost Recon, Halo, Killzone, Need for Speed, SOCOM or SWAT series. Founded in 2011, the studio has a moderately well received debut due to Takedown's tactical shooting: Red Sabre.
Story
The plot of the game is set in the near future, and the players take on the role of members of tactical assault unit operating within Interpol structures. Throughout the gameplay and a variety of missions, the international police team has to face dangerous drug cartels and terrorist organisations from all over the world. An interesting fact may be that among the characters controlled by us there are commandos of many nationalities and cultures, but - to dispel stereotypes - we will not find any Americans in the team.
Mechanics
The mechanics of the game clearly refers to the first installments of the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six series, where the issue of proper preparation and planning of individual missions was almost as important as its completion. Before starting each of the tasks, we have to make a number of preparations, starting from the selection of individual team members and the equipment they use, to the development of a detailed action plan. Of course, the game does not lack a wide range of modifiable weapons and modern gadgets, used by special units from all over the world.
Game modes
As befits a team shooter, Epsilon puts a lot of emphasis on multiplayer gameplay in addition to having fun for one player. The creators took care of the possibility of having fun in the co-op mode, as well as in the rivalry mode (versus). In the case of a single game, control over the actions of other team members is taken over by the computer AI, based on an action plan prepared by the players.
Technical issues
Technically, Epsilon on the PC platform makes use of the advanced Unreal Engine 4 graphics engine, which guarantees a high level of luminaire. The soundtrack of the title is the responsibility of Rich Douglas, who has recorded music for games such as Insurgency and Shadowgate. Craig Gilmore, a cartoonist known for his collaboration with Marroll and DC Comics, also took part in the game's development. He created a graphic novel illustrating the game's plot, which was then used in the form of intermittent films accompanying the game.
