Faeland PC

Faeland is a game developed by the American studio Talegames, which started working on it back in 2013. The studio subsequently received assistance from Square Enix (Square Enix Collective).

Story

The action of the game takes place in a fantasy world, where people, fantastic beings and dark forces live. The players will learn about Sam, a talented hunter who lives in a small hut in the forest. One day, he is attacked by a gang of trolls and orcs. Fortunately, he manages to escape life, but the whole situation is only the beginning of a great adventure, in which the survival of the whole kingdom will be at stake.

Mechanics

Faeland is a two-dimensional platform game from the metroidvania sub-genre, inspired by classic titles from the 8-bit console era . The genre is characterized by the fact that the action takes place in an open world, but we do not have access to the whole world from the very beginning. We can get to subsequent places only after obtaining new powers. This is no different in the case of Faeland. Exploring the world is not only about acquiring skills, because during the adventure we meet a variety of characters with whom we can talk, receive valuable tips, and get to know the story. In addition, we spend our time earning money to buy better equipment and solving puzzles.

Naturally, Faeland is not lacking in combat. Depending on the weapon we have (e.g. knives, daggers, swords, and spears) we fight differently - each tool of murder has its strengths and weaknesses.

Developers have prepared several different locations that make up the game's vast world. During the adventure, we visit, among others, forests, caves, dungeons and castles.

Technical aspects

The devs of Faeland tried to reproduce the visuals of old-school games, but without their limitations. The title was created in pixel art, but it offers smooth animation, a wide range of colors and support for high resolutions.
