Garou: Mark of the Wolves

Garou: Mark of The Wolves is another part of the famous Fatal Furies series, a response to the Street Fighter series from Capcom. Like Street Fighter III, it offers a new generation of warriors with only one character returning from the prequel.

Story

The main characters in the game are Terry Bogard, who returns from his predecessors, and Rock Howard, the son of his hitherto deadly enemy, brought up by him. The story in Garou: Mark of The Wolves focuses on the relationship between the two protagonists and the mystery associated with the disappearance of Rock's mother.

Mechanics

Garou: Mark of The Wolves is a classic 2D fighting game, offering fourteen different characters. Among them we will find a ninja warrior, a lady pirate and a karate user. In terms of gameplay, the game is largely based on a last-minute blocking system called Just Defence. Blocking an enemy blow at the right time gives us the advantage of launching a combo or attacking with a special blow. The game also offers the T.O.P system that enables warriors who have already lost certain level of energy to make special combos. Traditionally, each character has its own combinations, moves, special techniques and provocations.

Technical aspects

The strong point of Garou: Mark of The Wolves is the game's graphic design. The characters are very carefully animated, have large sprites, and the production offers a variety of backgrounds, including a port, a moving train and Southtown slums. The soundtrack consists of characteristic SNK guitar sounds and a large number of electronic instruments.
