Hot Lap Racing is a racing game reminiscent of the GRID series by Codemasters. It is a simcade, combining accessible gameplay with realism to appeal to the widest range of players. It was created by two little-known studios - developed by the French Zero Games Studio and published by Just For Games.
Gameplay
Hot Lap Racing has us playing as a young driver, dreaming of reaching the top and becoming a racing legend. We must thus show our skills in various disciplines, driving cars from many different eras.
The game features over 30 licensed vehicles of various categories, such as the Lancia Delta, Ford GT40 MkII, Ligier P320, Mygale F4 and historic Formula 1 cars. It also includes over 50 tracks in many different areas, some of them being authentic.
The player gets to compete against real drivers, both some rising stars and motorsport legends.
Game modes
Alongside the career mode, in which we must help our young driver make a name for themselves, there are also different singleplayer and multiplayer modes. Multiplayer is both local and online.
Technology
Hot Lap Racing runs on Zero Games' proprietary engine. The visuals are a bit more limited since the game was prepared with older hardware in mind, such as the Nintendo Switch.
