LEGO 2K Drive

LEGO 2K Drive is a racing game and the result of a collaboration between 2K Games and the LEGO Group. It was developed by Visual Concepts, known worldwide for the NBA 2K series.

Plot

LEGO 2K Drive takes place in Bricklandia. The player controls a rookie driver on a journey from zero to hero, aspiring to face the infamous Shadow Z and win the Sky Trophy. Before doing so, they must first face a number of other rivals.

Mechanics

LEGO 2K Drive is set in a vast open world. It consists of a variety of locations, such as the lush Turbo Acres, the badlands of Big Butte County and the waterways of Prospecto Valley. Each area is home to many wacky races, various mini-games and special challenges; those willing can also search for collectibles and destructible objects.

Nevertheless, racing is the most important aspect of the game. In order to cross the finish line we must master drifting (sliding on corners), use shortcuts and nitro as well as gather power-ups. The vehicles can shapeshift (from cars into boats and the other way around), which means the tracks often move from the streets to off-road terrain or even to water.

Speaking of vehicles - the game features a garage where we can create our own machines and modify already existing ones (taken from games such as LEGO City, LEGO Creator or LEGO Speed Champions). With more than a thousand different blocks to choose from, the player can either follow the game's instruction or let their imagination run wild. Custom creations can be further decorated with different paintjobs and stickers.

Game modes

LEGO 2K Drive supports singleplayer, as well as local split-screen and online multiplayer. In addition to its story mode, the game also offers single races and different cups.

Technical aspects

The visuals of LEGO 2K Drive are very impressive. The vehicles and the landscapes of Bricklandia are all quite appealing.
