Marvel Super Heroes is a classic fighting game developed by Capcom. The title launched on arcade machines, and after less than two years, it lived to see a console port coming to, among others, PS1.
Story
The events told in Marvel Super Heroes are loosely inspired by the story of Marvel's comic book series The Infinity Gauntlet. The players take on the role of superheroes and superhumans and fight for the so-called Infinity Stones; precious crystals giving their owner unimaginable power, sought after by Thanos in order to take control of the world.
Mechanics
The pillar of Marvel Super Heroes are duels in the arenas. In the course of the game, we take control of various characters from the Marvel universe, including Captain America, The Hulk, Iron Man, Magneto, Spier-Man or even Wolverine. Each warrior has a unique set of moves and special attacks, the skillful use of which is the key to victory.
The battles are enriched by powerful attacks called Infinity Combos, available after charging a special bar. This is complemented by the possibility to use the aforementioned Infinity Stones, which briefly increase our combat potential (for example by increasing our strength and defenses) or provide us with access to powerful attacks and bonuses (like a battlefield summoning of a space-time tunnel). We obtain them in two ways - in the Arcade mode we take them from the hands of defeated adversaries, while during duels in the Versus variant we get them only after meeting strictly defined conditions.
Game modes
Marvel Super Heroes can be played both solo (fighting duels with enemies controlled by artificial intelligence) and in the company of a second player, in the local competitive multiplayer mode.
Technical aspects
Two-dimensional visuals of Marvel Super Heroes adopt a comic book-like style.
